Financial Services & Banking
The core system is not the problem. The wait for it is.
Most institutions know exactly which products they want to launch. What stops them is a core platform where every change queues behind a replacement programme that is years out. Meanwhile onboarding leaks customers and reporting is assembled by hand.
Change queued behind the core
Onboarding that loses people
Reporting reassembled monthly
Four corners of the financial services sector
The financial services sector is not one market. These are the areas we work in most, each with its own systems, regulators and pressures.
Banking & Lending
Core banking integration, loan origination, servicing and collections platforms.
Insurance
Policy administration, claims automation and underwriting analytics.
Wealth & Superannuation
Member portals, adviser tooling, portfolio reporting and fee transparency.
Fintech & Payments
Payment rails, open banking integration and embedded finance products.

The problems that actually come up.
Recurring issues in financial services, and what we do about each one.
Onboarding that loses customers midway
We rebuild KYC and onboarding as a staged digital flow with identity verification, document capture and decisioning, so applications complete in minutes rather than days.
Fraud detection that fires too late
Real-time scoring models run in the transaction path, with case management and feedback loops so detection improves from analyst decisions.
Regulatory reporting assembled by hand
Reporting pipelines are automated and lineage-tracked, so each figure can be traced to its source and reproduced on demand.
Core systems that block every change
We put an API and integration layer over the core, letting new products ship without waiting on a core replacement programme.
Put a layer over the core, not through it.
An API and integration layer lets new customer-facing products ship without taking on core-replacement risk. It also decouples your release timeline from the vendor’s, which is usually the bigger win.

Fraud Detection AI
Real-time transaction scoring, anomaly detection and analyst case management.
Risk & Regulatory Analytics
Automated reporting pipelines with data lineage and reproducible figures.
Payments & Open Banking APIs
Payment integration, CDR data sharing and embedded finance interfaces.
Blockchain & Distributed Ledger
Settlement, provenance and reconciliation where a shared ledger genuinely fits.
Core Systems Integration
API layers over core banking and policy systems so new products ship independently.
Built on tooling your team can keep running.
Mainstream, well-supported platforms rather than anything exotic, so your people or another supplier can maintain what we hand over.
How we work in the financial services sector
Integrate rather than replace
New products ship on their own cadence while the core stays untouched.
Obligations as design inputs
Which standards apply, and what evidence risk will need, settled before build.
Traceable data pipelines
Lineage tracked so every reported figure can be reproduced on demand.

Frequently asked questions.
What clients in financial services usually want to know before starting.
1. Can you work within our existing core banking platform?
Yes, and in most cases that is the right approach. We typically build an API and integration layer over the core rather than replacing it, which lets you ship new customer-facing products without taking on the risk and timeline of a core replacement.
2. How do you approach APRA and regulatory obligations?
We treat them as design inputs. Before build, we work through which standards apply to the workload, what evidence your risk function will need, and how controls will be demonstrated. That shapes architecture decisions rather than arriving as a late review.
3. Do you build fraud detection models from scratch?
It depends on your data. Where you have sufficient labelled transaction history, custom models usually outperform generic ones. Where you do not, we start with rules plus a vendor service and build toward custom scoring as data accumulates.
4. Is blockchain actually useful in banking, or is it hype?
Mostly the latter, and we will say so. It earns its place where multiple parties need a shared record none of them controls — trade finance, settlement, provenance. For a single institution’s internal ledger, a conventional database is simpler, faster and cheaper, and we will recommend that instead.
5. What does a typical engagement look like?
A discovery phase of two to four weeks to map systems, obligations and priorities, then delivery in stages. A digital onboarding build typically runs 4-6 months; a broader modernisation programme is staged over 12-24 months.
